Indian equity benchmarks are poised for a strong gap-up opening on Tuesday, buoyed by positive sentiment following the finalization of the much-anticipated trade agreement between India and the United States.

Early indicators suggest robust momentum, with GIFT Nifty futures trading 788 points higher at 25,930 at 7:14 AM, signaling a firm start for both the Sensex and Nifty.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 81666.46 up by 943.52 points or by 1.17 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25088.4 up by 262.95 points or by 1.06 %.

On the global front, Asian markets also edged higher, with Mainland China’s CSI 300 rising 0.51 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.78 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei was up 3.09 percent and South Korea’s KOSPI was up 5.3 per cent. Overnight, Wall Street indices ended with gains with the S&P 500 settling up 0.54 per cent, the Nasdaq 0.56 per cent, and the Dow Jones 1.05 per cent.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 210480 with a total turnover of Rs. 34761.66 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1664425 with a total turnover of Rs. 111087.69 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 222245040 with a total turnover of Rs. 36146822.82 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 7127568 with a total turnover of Rs. 487488.00 Crore.

The FIIs on 02/02/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 32477.44 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 790.72 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 30571.69 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 791.00 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1905.75 Crore and Rs. -0.28
